About District
This district, now known as Farrukhabad, was renowned for its ancient Vedic, mythological, and historical significance, and for its associated sites. In 1714, Nawab Mohammad Khan Bangash unified 52 villages of the Bisen Kshatriyas (Bamtels) and named them Farrukhabad after the Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar. The formation of the Farrukhabad district began on November 10, 1801, with the British signing an agreement with the Nawab of Awadh. The district has 3 Tehsils, 7 Blocks, 603 Gram Panchayats, 1020 Revenue villages and a population of about 18.85 lakh.
